Massimo Uberti, TRACING OF LIGHT

Can one draw with light? Massimo Uberti has been doing it for years, thanks to the ductility of neon, shaped with his craftsmen to create perfect systems in which nothing distracts our eye from the flow of the line in space. But drawing what? The author seems to be interested in giving us back, first of all, what we think we already have: everyday objects, almost banal, like a ladder or two easels. And yet, in giving us back the essential form, we understand that even in the most ordinary objects there is something extraordinary, and that is the poetry of the form. The poetry of things that, when lightened to their essentials, become capable of restoring something that transcends the material itself. This is how Uberti creates microcosms, rooms that break through rooms, in which a window, evoked with a few lines on the wall, opens our minds to a landscape to be searched for in our imagination.
