Daniela Peracchi, LEGGERO LEGGERO (LIGHT LIGHT)

«In Leggero leggero, in which I bury my mother in leaves, the resolution of the video is tremendously low. For me it was not important to make a video in which the image was clean, in which all the details were visible, because I wanted the impression of a daily action to remain». But what can be daily about covering one’s mother with leaves until she disappears? It is a metaphor, of course, an image in which the mother allows herself to be invaded by her daughter’s tenacity and poetry. Covering means, at the same time, protecting to guard, but also hiding to the point of cancellation. At certain times in life, growing up has meant erasing one’s mother, at others covering her, at others protecting her. We know this well. One of the key themes of this Contexto comes back – and will come back again –: the relationship between generations, between fathers, mothers and children. A relationship that belongs to us, that is never the same over time and that everyone must regain.
