Carlo Alberto Rastelli, PET SEMATARY

«My works on canvas are created in the endless forests of Latvia, in which geometric abstraction and figuration interpenetrate in a game of continuous stratifications, created with flat layers of acrylic paint. The title of the series, inspired by the Ramones’ song of the same name, comes from the small animal skulls painted in oil».
Rastelli is a young painter who is extremely aware of his path, capable of narrating himself, of letting us into his painting with a wealth of details and references, identifying his masters, Gustav Klimt to Peter Doig, and making us move over the surface of his canvas with the same lenticular grace that created them. Yet the unspoken is the best part of his work, and the questions on these faces are the start of a journey worthy of a David Lynch movie.
