Jacopo Rosati, WATER AND WATERS

«Considered in relation to its position, our flourishing city is famous because it is situated in a beautiful, rich and fertile plain, where the climate is temperate and provides everything necessary for human life, between two admirable equidistant rivers, the Ticino and the Adda: it is not without reason that it took the name Mediolanum, as if to say that it lies like a tongue between the two rivers».

This is what Bonvesin wrote and, throughout the text, he repeats in countless passages the importance of water for the life of the city. Jacopo Rosati used his characteristic technique of cutting felt shapes to illustrate an element that is so difficult to represent. The choice of felt was also linked to the Testori family’s factory, which lived here and still produces industrial filters and felts.
