Davide Mottes, THE CIRCLE CITY

«Finally, if anyone would like to see the shape of the city and the quality and quantity of its palaces and all the other buildings, let him climb to the top of the courtyard tower with a thankful heart».

A city on which to walk. Davide Mottes has reconstructed the Milan of the late 13th century with precision and accuracy. He had studied maps drawn around the same time as Le Meraviglie di Milano was being drawn up and identified the centres of power and religious life of the time, as well as some of the key places along the way, including the houses where Bonvesin lived.
A geographic-scientific reading, which lent itself well to prolonged observation due to the wealth of details and landmarks, from the mountains surrounding the city to the distances in kilometres from the other villages in the area.
